Join us for our next after-school club running in the Spring term!
What is Wild Child?
Wild Child is a club for 8 – 11 year olds, focussed on helping children to try new things, excite their imagination and learn the way of nature. Through this we are hoping to help raise a generation that is aware of who they are, mindful of nature and has the capacity to imagine and think creatively.
What will be the activities in the club?
The club is a combination of the following activities:*
- Social and mindful activities (community projects, mindfulness, team-building games)
- Energetic and outdoor activities (fire-making, den-making, learning to use tools, wide-games)
- Creative activities (cooking, gardening, crafts, photography, journalling)
- Reflective activities (story-telling, drama games, self reflection)
*activities will vary depending on the club and time of year. These are given to illustrate the types of activities we’ve done previously.
Where is the club?
The first four sessions will start and finish at St Andrews Church, (Garret Lane, Earlsfield SW18 3QG) as it’s not light enough for us to spend the whole session at the field. We’ll do local trips from the church, and use the warm inside space for a new variety of games and activities.
The remaining sessions will be held at Dobbins Field, Paradise Co-operative’s communi-ty garden site. It’s an enclosed acre of land just next to Wandsworth Common for children to explore, run around and enjoy. We have a pizza oven, orchard, pond, yurt, fire-pit area and lots of spaces to make dens and tell stories.
When is it?
Tuesdays 15:30 – 17:30, starting Tuesday 8th January , for 12 sessions until 2nd April (excluding half-term 19th February)
Who runs the club?
Wild Child is run by Samuel Markusse, a local drama therapist and qualified Forest School practitioner with many years of childcare experience. Sam has been involved in the children’s activities at Paradise Co-operative for four years. His trained team are DBS checked and experienced in childcare.
What about refreshments?
Drinks and snacks are included.
How much does it cost?
The term costs £120 per child. This includes costs for our leaders and workshop teachers, hiring the space, drinks and snacks, resources and also supports our ability to offer 2 bursary places children who need them.
If you would like to apply for a 50% bursary place, please contact us directly. These spaces are offered in priority order. First to children who haven’t benefited from a bursary space before, and then in a first-come first-served basis.
We only have 15 spaces for this club, and it is always popular so please book early to avoid disappointment.
If your child has attended Wild Child before, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place. If you haven’t attended before, please fill in the form below with your child’s details.
