REFERRAL PROGRAMMES

REFERRAL PROGRAMMES
We work with practitioners, schools and community organisations to help more people access supportive time in nature, especially those who face barriers to connection in high-quality green spaces.
Our referral pathways are non-clinical, community-based, and rooted in our mission: creating sustainable spaces to inspire connection and growth through nature.
If you’re supporting someone who might benefit from gentle outdoor activity, community connection, and a calmer pace, we’d love yo hear from you.
our approach
Our sessions are facilitated by experienced staff and guided by the NHS 5 Ways to Wellbeing:

People can join quietly, take part at their own pace, and choose how much they engage. There is no pressure to talk or share personal information. We keep all information shared during referral processes confidential.

A gentle, non-clinical group that supports mental wellbeing through gardening, nature connection and shared activity in our community garden.
What participants can expect:
- gentle, optional gardening and growing tasks
- time outdoors in a calm, supportive group
- harvesting produce for our local community food partners
- hot drinks and something to eat (we cater for dietary needs, and provide seasonal, healthy and local food).
- a welcoming, trauma-informed approach: come as you are.
How to refer:
Practitioners can complete our ‘Referral Form‘ (recommended if you’re supporting someone with additional needs, risk considerations, or would benefit from a supported introduction).
What happens after you refer:
Once we receive a referral, we:
- review the information to ensure the session is a good fit
- contact the participant (or referrer, depending on consent) with next steps
- offer clear, gentle support for the weekly sign-up process.
sensory stay & play
Families (parents & siblings welcome)
Sunday afternoons, 1.30 – 3.30 PM

Nature-based, supportive play for SEND children and their families.
Sensory Stay & Play was piloted in 2025 as a referral-supported programme offering relaxed outdoor sessions for families whose children may find mainstream spaces overwhelmcing (including families with SEND and sensory needs).
The pilot ended in December 2025.
The programme offered:
- supported outdoor sensory play in a calm, safe setting
- space for siblings and parents/carers
- nature-based activities led by qualified staff
- refreshments and an unhurried pace
- a supportive team and an emphasis on safety and belonging.
What’s next:
We’re currently evaluating the programme, and working with participants and families to learn from the pilot project. We’re keen to explore future funding and grow this work.
If you’re a practitioner or organisation interested in being involved as a referral partner in a future round, we’d love to hear from you. Please email community@paradisecooperative.org.
referrer faq
Is this a clinical service?
No. Paradise programmes are non-clinical and community-based. Many people find that they compliment other support they’re receiving.
What safeguarding is in place?
We have strict safeguarding procedures in place, which are appropriate for work with vulnerable adults and children. We have a Safeguarding Lead, and our staff are trained to support participants and identify risk.
Do you accept referrals with higher needs?
Yes, sometimes. Particularly if a participant attends with a 1:1 support worker, or we agree on a support plan in advance.
Where are you based?
We are between Earlsfield and Clapham Junction, near Wandsworth Common and HMP Wandsworth. Click here for more information on where we are and how to get here.

WHO REFERRALS ARE FOR
Our referral programmes may be a good fit for people who:
- are experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood, burnout, isolation, or reduced confience.
- would benefit from routine, fresh air, gentle activity and social connection.
- want a supportive space that isn’t formal therapy or a clinical appointment,
- may find busy or noiser spaces overwhelming
- need support in accessing nature and the outdoors
We can also welcome people with higher support needs if they attend with a 1:1 support worker.
Practical Information
Bees/Apiary on site: We have a small apiary in the garden. If a participant has a known allergy to bee stings, they must bring any required medication with them. We are not permitted to store adrenaline shots on-site.
Accessibility: We’ll always do our best to support access needs. Please share anything that helps us plan safely.
