What is Wild Child?
Wild Child is is focussed on helping children to try new things, excite their imagination and learn the way of nature. Through this we are hoping to help raise a generation that is aware of who they are, mindful of nature and has the capacity to imagine and think creatively.
Where is the club?
The club will be held at Dobbins Field, Paradise Co-operative’s community garden site. It’s an enclosed acre of land for children to explore, run around and enjoy. We have a pizza oven, pond, yurt, lots of spaces to make dens and tell stories.
When is it?
Tuesdays 15:30 – 17:30, starting Tuesday 17th April and running for 12 weeks (excluding May half term) until 10th July.
What will be the activities in the club?
We’ll keep building on skills like whittling, den-making and navigation but adding some new ones to the mix like pond-dipping, wildlife watching, boat-making and perhaps even a drumming masterclass! (to be confirmed…)
Who runs the club?
Wild Child is run by Samuel Markusse, a local drama therapist with many years of childcare experience. Sam has been involved in the children’s activities at Paradise Co-operative for three years. His trained team are DBS checked and experienced in childcare.
He is joined by Asia, a fantastic forest school leader who works in her other life as the educational leader for the University of Roehampton’s environmental society, ‘Growhampton’
What is included?
Drinks and snacks are included.
How much does it cost?
The term costs £120 per child. This includes costs for our leaders and workshop teachers, hiring the space, drinks and snacks, resources and also supports our ability to offer 2 bursary places children who need them.
