Wild Child October Half Term

Booking now open

Booking is now open for Wild Child club in October half-term 23rd – 27th October 2017. Our last club sold out in less than a week, so book now to avoid disappointment!

What is Wild Child?

Looking for something a bit different this half-term? Our Wild Child clubs are fun adventures for children aged 8+ that guarantee new skills, new friends and new experiences!

Choose 1 day, or come to all 5! All days will include story-telling, games, activities like whittling, cooking on an open fire, making shelters, gardening and learning more about the outdoors. Our focus is on imagination, and we encourage all children to learn more about their surroundings and learn more about themselves.

The outline of the week:

Monday

Story of animals – @Paradise Co-operative; Dobbins field and Tom’s Farm

Today is a great chance to learn some practical skills because we’ll be building houses for hibernating animals! We’ll also visit a city farm in the afternoon and help with the animals.

Tuesday

Farm To Fork Journey – @Roehampton University

Today evolves around the question: Where does our food come from? A team of Growhampton students will teach us all about sowing, growing, reaping and of course eating.

Wednesday

Story of Shelter – @Paradise Co-operative; Dobbins Field

We will build some amazing shelters and play some fun wide games in Wimbledon common. Prepare to learn some basic survival skills that you will need to stay dry and comfy!

Thursday

Universe Story – @Global Generation; Paper Garden

We’ll visit the paper garden in Canada Water, an amazing project hosted by global generation. There will be storytelling of cosmology and astrology, making lunch together, crafts, both inside and outside.

Friday

Story of Community – @Paradise Co-operative; Dobbins field

Using natural materials we’ve foraged during the week, we’ll make some cool instruments and theatre props. We’ll end our week with a community feast, including pizza’s made in the stone oven and presentations for the parents

Who runs it?

Led by local drama therapist, Sam Markusse and a team of experienced volunteers – many of whom are on teacher training placements from the University of Roehampton. Our Wild Child team are first-aid trained and CBR checked.

How much does it cost?

1 day: £45
2 days: £80
3 days: £105
4 days: £120
5 days: £125

Family discount available for siblings.

Where is it based?

The core of our week is based at Dobbins Field but we will also do some trips on other days to the following places, and children are taken on public transport from Earlsfield Station.

Tom’s farm is located at Nightengale School and wants the local community to benefit from the therapeutic and educational advantages of working with, and learning about animals in a safe and caring environment. They have all kinds of animals from rabbits, to cows and from goats to snakes!

Growhampton is a sustainability programme with a big focus on food. It is delivered by Roehampton Students’ Union at the University of Roehampton, who are passionate about soil, veg and animals.
